I'm creating a movie of video highlights of my kid. To my horror, I just discovered that searching for video files does not list all of the video files for a particular month. I discovered that some videos with dates of 10/31/2014, are not being displayed, even though the date range is 10/1/2014 to 10/31/2014. You can see the settings I'm using in the screenshot.
Any ideas why these videos are not showing up in the search? I've done many searches by month, and now I'm not sure if I was seeing all of the video files for any given month, which means I have a LOT of work to check.

Re: Search for video files returns incomplete list
Is it definitely the modified date that you say it is missing?, try swapping the drop down on the date tab to "created & modified".
Also try and remove the time from the box, and leave just the date.

Yes, if view the file in XYplorer, the modified date is 10/31/2014. I just tried changing the drop down to "created or modified", and the videos are still not showing up.jupe wrote:Is it definitely the modified date that you say it is missing?, try swapping the drop down on the date tab to "created & modified".

Any other ideas?

Re: Search for video files returns incomplete list
You didn't answer this, did you try it?, ie, you would need the first day of the next month when using 00 as the time AFAIK, so it would be better to not enter the times.jupe wrote:Also try and remove the time from the box, and leave just the date.
edit: I haven't used the date tab myself much personally, but from my quick tests just now it seems "between" these dates is taken literally, and doesn't include the bottom date entered, like you are saying, I am not sure that would be expected behavior either. So you will need to use this instead 10/1/2014 > 11/1/2014
PS: I always find it easier to use the name field & tab, to achieve what you want this would work:
datem: m 10 & y 2014
or if you prefer using the date tab, then doing it like this might be more reliable:

Re: Search for video files returns incomplete list
10/31/2014 23:59:59
should work as well but I agree with jupe, this is not what I would expect / call it "user friendly"
@Don
Two options to improve this:
01. A value of 00:00:00 should be internally interpreted as the end of the day in the "and/add" field
or
02. When using the datepicker, it should insert the date with 23:59:59 and not 00:00:00 into that field

Thanks, I was looking at some of the "info panel" options in the help file, what you are saying makes sense. I should have looked at the help file first! Yes, that is somewhat misleading in the info panel where it indicates dates "between". It should says dates "from" and "to" or something similar, in my opinion. Thanks again for your help.
