Re: Hover to select frustrating
Well, in thumbnail view, if I choose to hover select, I cannot see anymore the info tip window when hovering (and it’s a very useful functionality for previewing images).admin wrote:1. In thumbnail view mode Select By Hover happens when you hover the caption (since there is no icon). Works fine. I don't see any interference.lian00 wrote:For the moment I cannot use properly the hover selecting function as it interfers the thumbnail view mode and I have some problem to use it correctly (it selects things I don’t want to be selected when I browse my files). Maybe it could be convenient to have an option to Shift+Hover to select files (I see the problem here: impossible to use Shift to select a lot of files). Or another key.

Re: Hover to select frustrating
i even tried the 2000ms delay. and still there are constant wrong hover-selections
during this test i move the cursor quite rapidly (so there's no way it could stay in the icon area for as much as 2 seconds)
important note: it's hard to get such wrong hover-selections immediately (sometimes it may appear only after 10-15 fast cursor movements between tree and list)
i don't know, maybe i have a rare combination of some xyplorer's settings (including those in the ini-file)
update: the off-topic part of this post was moved to the appropriate thread

Yes, you cannot have both.lian00 wrote:Well, in thumbnail view, if I choose to hover select, I cannot see anymore the info tip window when hovering (and it’s a very useful functionality for previewing images).admin wrote:1. Re: Hover to select frustrating
i checked the latest beta (19.00.0007) and found out that my main ini-settings are not the reason of this problem because the same wrong hover-selections are present in the beta too
so the reason is maybe in some system settings. i have the utility called 'Tweak UI for Windows' (version: 2.10.0.0) (size: 260 kb)
it has these 2 settings: mouse > hover > hover sensitivity (i chose 2); hover time (ms) (i chose 125)
these 2 values work perfectly for the standard explorer but i suspect that xyplorer does not like them for some reason
my registry contains this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverHeight\4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverTime\125
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverWidth\4
i tried to change 125 to 400 and 4 to 0/2/6/12/48. the result is negative

Re: Hover to select frustrating
These seem to be the defaults:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverHeight\4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverTime\400
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverWidth\4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverHeight\4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverTime\400
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseHoverWidth\4

Re: Hover to select frustrating
400 is not a solution for me. and i honestly don't understand what is going on
seemingly i'll have to enable this useful option from time to time only (for several seconds/minutes)
instead of using it constantly (which i want but can't)
is there a way to quickly toggle the 'select list items on hover' option? (without opening the configuration)
maybe something like this:the corresponding 'command ID' is not available unfortunately

Code: Select all
setting "SelectOnHover", r, p;-

I tried these values: no problems.suslo wrote:my registry contains this:

So maybe 'Tweak UI for Windows' does something else in the background...

Re: Hover to select frustrating
now i know that 10 is the minimum for MouseHoverTime. and this is what i noticed:
if i set 10 instead of 125 (in 'Tweak UI for Windows' > hover time), then nothing changes in xyplorer
so as i understand, in my case the registry/system settings/tweak-ui are not to blame
there's something more interesting that i noticed:
at the moment it seems that wrong hover-selections always appear in the first vertical row only. example: i'm speaking about the row with 52 selected folders (named from 001 to 056)
here the delay is 400 in xyplorer (and 125 in tweak-ui and registry)
and i haven't seen a single wrong hover-selection in case of folders 060-752
