Paper Folders Questions

Am I able to nest PFs within other PFs? If yes, how?
I saw in another PF thread that there were intentions to put a dedicated PF branch into the tree... Has that happened? Is there a configuration setting somewhere to turn it on?

It would look more a graph structure, not a heirarchy:

That graph look like a hierarchy (with circular references) with A at the top. ....and also A at the bottom, sort of. Okay, maybe it's not a hierarchy. But how would this translate to paper folders?

All a paper folder would be is a list of pointers to other things: files, folders, or other paper folders (maybe even pointing to itself, though... this wouldn't be all that useful.)

Google drive is pretty sweet because it works like this... the same file/folder can exist in multiple locations without duplicating the space that it takes up. (so the analogy would be that all Gdrive folders are like paper folders in the way I've wished above that paper folders worked, i.e. they can be nested in a graph structure... and not like a skeuomorphic file folder system where a piece of paper can only exist in one folder at once)

Paper folders are nothing more than simple .txt files and each of them would need to contain
the necessary files and folders to show when "called". Which could be done with Custom File Associations (CFA),
but you won't never see the underlying references / structure (and it would only work if the .txt file follow
a specific naming pattern or would need to be tagged)...

Ideally, we wouldn't even know that paper folders are just text files... to us they would just seem like regular folders... and xyplorer would handle the naming of files (likely using the folder name as a unique ID, and not allowing two different paper folders to have the same name)... I guess the PF text files would also have to keep track of all the folders that it itself lives in too. (If you went to these places in the windows explorer you wouldn't find the paper folder or its text file, it would only be visible in xyplorer)

then you could drag+drop or copy paper folders into multiple other paper folders, and it would just seem like you were copying a normal folder in (except it wouldn't be duplicating any folders or files, it would just be adding to the text file)

If paper folders worked like this, I would also use them like tags, where the inclusion of a file in a paper folder implies its tag.

You won't get that (at least I wouldn't hold my breath for it...). Don likes the simplicity that's behind the current concept.
