Can anybody help me to fix two catalogs?

Hi!

I was trying open earlier created 2 catalogs and XYplorer always freezes and possible is only to close it.

Can anybody help me with fixing these two catalogs?

They both work ok for me, no crashes, no freezes when I either include them or open them separately. Are you using the most recent version of XY because I know there was recently some changes made about self healing catalogs.

Ok, so catalogs are ok?

Have I downgrade XYplorer or wait for new fixed?

Catalogs seem fine to me, I just wanted to check you were on the latest version, no downgrade necessary, you can try typing ::fresh; into the XY address bar and then loading them again to check if they crash in a fresh environment, on your system.

Tried.

First I saw default XY settings and opened one catalog (QuickLaunch) - correct.
Then tried to open second (Projects) and it freezes.
I started again fresh environment and opened Projects - correct...

I'm using 4 catalogs - 2 are working and 2 are not working (posted in this thread).

Where in settings it can have problem?
I have XY so customized that I can't imagine to rebuild it.

Have you tried loading them, in a fresh instance or however you load them where you say they load ok, then export them to a new file, and see if that new file will open without a crash.

I tried to export all categories step by step and then create new catalogs by including categories.
Both catalogs looking good and I saved them into other filenames.
But when I opened catalogs, were empty - I did it twice and then displayed file content - was empty (not as empty of text file, but with flags and headers).

So what a problem is in XY?

Much bigger problem - in second catalog (of two working) is not possible to expand category - behavior is same - freezes XY.

Q is - where is in settings problem?
And also - 64-bit context menu I need - it is near impossible to get it by clicking on "Show 64-bit menu" and works not when is selected as default.

I think I have problem with settings, but where to search for?

I have no idea, your whole setup sounds weird, your catalog files seem to contain a heap of weird characters and symbols, and language accents in your catalog file, I don't know if that has any bearing though because I am not the developer, and I am pretty sure it was you who somehow created mysterious sub categories in the first place requiring the self heal catalog implementation, so something definitely got twisted along the way on your rig, both category files you uploaded strangely work fine for me though, also mysterious.

You aren't going to like it but my suggestion is to download a fresh new no-install version from the website, extract it to a new location, run it, enable 64 bit context menu, see if it works in that install, then if everything else like your catalogs work correctly, I would start customizing it again from scratch, it may end up being quicker in the long run than troubleshooting all your weird oddities.

Or wait for someone else to give you another better suggestion, or the developer to weigh in.

edit: After reading the other topic where you said that you tried hex editing and text editing catalog files, maybe somehow they have been corrupted, but still semi functional, then you have added onto them and the corruption become worse rendering them non-functioning, but I am guessing.

I have loaded your catalogs in my XY and re-exported them if you want to try my new copies I have attached them, when I byte compared them to your versions they are different so they might not crash XY, also even though the other 2 catalogs you haven't uploaded seem ok they could be corrupted but don't cause an issue until you try and include other catalogs with them.

Thank you for fixing catalogs, but only projects.dat was opened.

I'm using always portable version of XYplorer and ok, I do personalization from scratch.
Please warn me what must to be deleted and what I can leave as is, of course I do backup of all.

You may want to wait for other advice from those more experienced first, but my suggestion is what I said in the previous post if you read it carefully, here are some steps again:

• Completely download FRESH NEW COPY STRAIGHT FROM WEBSITE.
• UNPACK ALL FILES INTO A DIFFERENT FOLDER leaving your original version completely intact.
• follow steps in previous post, enable 64bit context menu etc, does that work now before going any further?
• do catalogs all work in this fresh clean versions folder?
