Reports

Post by RalphM »

Hi Donald

I just came back to the task of reporting...
(which actually was my one and only reason to start using TrackerV3 in the first place)
... and have a few questions & suggestions:

1) How do I switch off the "Line feed for file names longer than..." in the configuration? "0" didn't work.
2) Wouldn't it be nice to select the subitem separator for the classic directory dump as well? (currently I'm using a word macro to replace the blanks by tab stops and format it)
3) the separator for "CSV" files can be something different than a "Comma" - depending on OS regional settings, i.e. for Switzerland it is ";" - so could you possibly make it selectable like on the "Current List" tab, add a setting in the config, or get it from the OS?
4) The "Current List" tab would probably solve all my needs instead, if an "Include subfolders" could be added.

Thanks
Ralph :)

Hi Ralph,

thanks for your suggestions. The topic "reports" has not been discussed very heavily in this forum so far. I already had the impression that nobody uses reports...
Right now I'm just hunting bugs because 4.0 is about to be released. I'll come back to new report features later -- there's enough space on the Report configuration tab...

It does work now :)
EDIT: revised that Classic directory dump interface even more... you'll see.

But where would be the folder (path) information?

Good point!

Well, you might have to squeeze it in on the way down the tree, he he.

No actually I was thinking a bit further...
You could use the settings of the current file list pane (i.e. column order, sort order) and then apply these format settings to a regular directory dump, with the ability to set field delimiter to "TAB", ";" or whatever.

Well, well... maybe in ver 4.2...
Why don't you do an include-subfolders-search without filters (-> finds all), and then make a list report of the results?

Because I like the structure of the classic directory dump with subfolders listed first and then the contents of the subfolders at the end of the report and there's no way to show relative paths in the find results anymore.

But my current problems were solved with the last beta, so I can easily wait for version 4.2.

Thx

BTW I translated my word template to create a formatted report from TrackerV3 in Word to English in order to share it with other TV3 users - will send it to your support mailbox and leave it to you, whether you want to post it or not.
