On the attached jpg - I find it difficult to see if folder or branch view ar on or off.
I have attempted to find contrasting colors under Colors and Styles with no luck.

I think I finally understand what you want, I have a couple suggestions, if you right click the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar then in the bottom right of the dialog select the options button like so:
It would then give it a blue background like this: Or change the toolbar color, like I already told you how in this post, which could increase contrast:
