How to get CLSID

Hi!

I want to swap EXE preview to other program than QuickViewPlus.
My problem in that I don't know how to get CLSID.
I used shexview.exe and there is possible to see extensions, not programs - or understand it not?
In other discussion we were talking about QVP and it was success, but now I'm lost.

Can anyone help me?

Try these steps:

• Load ShellExView
• Options Menu | Show 32-bit Extensions (needs to be ticked)
• Options Menu | Filter by Extension Type
• Select Preview Handlers
• Find your wanted & installed 32bit preview handler in the now small list
• Select it and press Alt+Enter and a dialog will pop up with the CLSID in it, or you can scroll across in the main window to the CLSID column.

You have to already have it installed, and it has to be 32bit, once you have it, the steps in XY to enter it are here:

So, I found no preview handler.
It means that it can't handle preview.

No registered 32-bit preview handler -> No other (native!) preview in XY...

What does an exe preview do anyway? What information are you looking for?

Providing a lot of technical info e.g. which dlls are used, which function calls inside them, etc.

Here's screenshot - it provides file view: info + native, text, hex and its icon:

Although on different tabs, you can get most of that info in XY already, my suggestion would also be to use portable file associations to send the exe to that viewer if you want to use it and it doesn't register itself as a preview handler.

Oh, I'm stupid, I forgot that...

I have only one different Q:
I have selected to display thumbnails in directories. EXE icons are not visible - is possible to see EXE icon in directory when thumbnails are selected?

Is this setting disabled?, it needs to be to see EXE icons.

Configuration | General | Refresh, Icons, History | Icons | Use generic icons for super-fast browsing

you may need to restart, if it was enabled, to notice the effects.

Yes, it was checked. I disabled it and works.
