To Use or Not To Use

Post by R3d2Dawn »

Well, I have been debating for several weeks now on what file manager to go with. I have used just about every single one out their.

I have boiled it down to just a few, sort of:

1. Directory Opus
2. xplorer2
3. PowerDesk6
4. XYplorer
5. UltraExplorer

Based on pricing, features, usability, eye catching, etc. The two I find my self stuck on is XYPLORER & ULTRAEXPLORER

Both seem to really have potential. They both grabbed me equally.

So for now I find my self using the two file managers. It may just be that I am having issues with converting to just the tab browsing features.

XYplorer does not have the dual pane option, which I am use too, so I tend to lean toward UltraExplorer because it has both tab and pane. But when I do not have a need for dual panes, I frequently use XYplorer.

Their are some features of XY that I am not sure if I can decide I like the way they are or feal it should be changed.

But bottom line is my decision is stuck right at the moment between the 2. I purchased the license for XY 'cause I could not pass up the offer for lifetime license. Personally the 29.50USD is worth it.

I will recommend XYplorer to anyone I meet and will even teach them to use it. I strongly support this software.

Greetings and welcome to world of XY!
As you may tell by my post count, I'm a pretty heavy user of XY and this forum...but... I also use a second product on occasion (xplorer2 lite) for those times when I need dual-pane for comparison...and as you may find, dual pane (DP) is a frequent topic here, so XY may likely get some form of it in future...

As to features that you feel could be changed, posting requests on the Wish forum in a calm, respectful manner can work wonders on occasion!
The reason I say it that way is, more than once, a brand new user here has posted a list of wishes (in a demand form) and gotten upset when we, as forum regulars, disagree with those desires...especially when they are cosmetic and don't affect usability in any real manner...

So look around here, and get to know us here on the forums...we're really a great group of folks! And THANKS for supporting XY!

Update: It was only after writing this reply that I read your post in the Wish forum! You'll likely find that some of those items have been discussed before, so take a look at prior threads (and the "roadmap"), ok?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Welcome R3d2Dawn :)

I have been following this product for a while even though I've been using Total Commander for many years.

Like you, the offer of a lifetime license for such a well updated product with some interesting features was too good to miss out on.
