Flatten folder with a twist

Would like to have a script that functions the same as Flatten folder EXCEPT that when done the now empty Child folders are left in place and not deleted from the Parent.

(Why you wonder? It has to do with resorting but based on criteria that has changed.)

and removing a delete command shouldn't be that complicated...

The seeds of what is wanted are there but will have to "toil in the vineyard" to make it happen.
