Cannot read removable storage anymore
Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
Thank you. For what it's worth, it's an issue for me too. Miss being able to access my phone without resorting to Win Explorer.

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
So it's not fixed in 18.50?

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
Sure. All explorers (e.g. Dopus, QDir, Windows Explorer, PowerDesk, UltraExplorer ...) can read removable storage devices with Creators Update. Except one ... Time to do something ? Time to manage priorities in dev process ?
Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
No, it is not fixed in 18.5. To even get my phone to show up at all after plugging in, I have to close and relaunch XY. Refresh or reset tree does nothing. At that point the phone shows up with ? beside internal storage and beside the SD card. The list is empty for both.

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
Just to clarify the screenshot in the previous post... clicking on "Internal Storage" or "SanDisk SD card" in the TREE does NOT show the folders or files on them in the right hand pane... the pane remains unchanged. FYI and Thanks! for your efforts!

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
OK, thanks.
In the meantime I found out that the bug has been reported to MS. So there is a little hope that they fixed it in Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) on 17th October 2017.
(Now, if anybody says: But other FMs can do it! Listen: In Windows there are usually many ways to achieve a goal. Now my way has been destroyed by Version 1703 (Creators Update). I cannot just take another route. This is complex stuff. It would take months.)

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
OK. While I'm looking for other ways: If anybody happens to know how to get a valid PIDL for an USB device path (see beginning of this thread) in Win10 Creators Update, let me know. Usually this is done with SHParseDisplayName() or ILCreateFromPath().

Re: Cannot read removable storage anymore
Thanks, but I'm already aware of these threads. It's Microsoft who should see this... The Win10 updates are rolling out without documentation. It's a matter of luck whether your app is affected by changes/bugs/features, and you need even more luck to work around them in the dark.
