Search Results disappears!

I have my standard tabs setup as follows:

Name, Ext, Size, Type, Modified, Attr, Len

I have sized them all to the way I want and to make sure I can go back to it in case something changes it.

To do this I right click on the Header row and select: Define Current Column Setup as Default.

And to restore this saved view I right click the Header Column and select Restore Column Setup from Default.

Now for the unwanted feature.

I also have a tab locked and dedicated to Search Results.

It is setup as follows:

Name, Ext, Size, Type, Modified, Attr, Len, Path

Now, with the Search Results tab showing, I noticed when I right clicked on the Header row that these two selections are also present.

Now, the columns are different in the Search tab from the standard tab but being adventurous I wondered what would happen if I selected Restore Column Setup from Default in the Search Results tab.

I thought I would end up with losing the Path column, but to my surprise I lost *all* the columns including the Header column. I ended up with a completely empty headerless listview.

I tried numerous things including deleting the search tab and recreating it, but I could not recover from this except with replacing the xyplorer.ini with a backup. (I backup the .ini file daily, just in case.)

Later, I remembered that I could have just quit XY by selecting the quit without saving in the File Menu. (Thank you muchly for adding that, by the way.)

I then took my backup .ini and the resulting new .ini and used a compare program.

I found the following:

New.ini

[ListFind]
VisList=0000000000

From the above I figure that a 1 means show column and a 0 means don't show it. No wonder the listview was totally blank.

Just for the record, because it seems from the original post John was wondering about it:

List can have four modes (Browse, the most common one, Find, for search results, Drives, on My Computer, and Network, for, guess what, My Network Places!) and each of them has its own set of column settings, and therefore each can have its own set of default settings.

So, restoring the default on Browse mode, even after saving them on Find mode, will not interfer. What would normally happen is restore the settings saved as default for Browse mode, if any. If not, restore factory default (again, for Browse mode).

BTW, you can define colors for List (Config/Colors), and again you'll see you can define different colors for each of the modes
