OK, I added a message if target is not found. BTW, home definitions are never automatically changed if not found, but only explicitly via Set Home.

If I create a finding tab and set it home, the location of the tree view is stored, remembered and displayed when hoovering over the home symbol.
Wouldn't it be more descriptive to store the content of the find location box instead?

Well, it does show the content of the find location box in the tooltip.

Well, I still don't get that result.
If you create a new search, the selected folder in tree view and the find location are the same, which works as you described, but if you load a find template in any tab and then set it home, the tooltip shows the last browse location of that tab, not the find location of the template, because the tree view doesn't set the focus to the search location.

You have to run the template search at least once, else the tab is not in Find mode and won't show a "Search..." tooltip.

It should walk up the parent tree until it finds an existing location. If the whole drive isn't there, it will go to the desktop. Doesn't it?

Ah, I see the problem now... the next BETA will definitely jump to Desktop if a shared drive is not available and you still open the tab.

Ralph, I found that startup takes very long if tabs contain shared drives that are currently not available. Can you confirm that?

Yes I can confirm that startup takes a while when TV3 is looking for shared drives, that are not available, but it didn't annoy me so far.
I got some shared drives, which TV3 needs longer to open when available than the time it takes to figure it's not available. But I have to admit, I couldn't figure out yet, what's the reason for this slow-down. I can only confirm, it's neither depending on the drive's overall size nor on the number of files in it.

Aah, the house tool tip. Ok, that was a bug, thanx! Fixed it.

Anyway, it should be fast now always. Also new: Tabs pointing to shared resources are checked for availability at startup. If not available, they'll have no icon.

Well I guess the problem I had is already solved, but let me explain again anyway:
If a tab has been focused at a subdirectory of a network drive (i.e. N:\data\...), that wasn't available anymore, answering yes to select the tab anyway moved the focus of that tab only up to the root directory of that drive (in this case to N:\) and never changed to a currently available drive.

I like the idea of the missing icons when the drive is not available, though I'm still thinking about freezing the named tabs and keep their settings until unnaming them again...

I will check the next beta and let you know...

The home config is never lost until you reset it yourself.

Yeah, but "naming = fixing" has been just an idea, it never became reality. Let's say I have a tab called "Web Design", and I have many web design projects. When I go back to that tab, I want to see it how I left it: the recent web design project I was working on, and not the web design project I was working on when I named the tab.

I just checked the no-icon feature with beta 4.00.0025 with a total of 4 tabs as follows:
1) subdir of an unavailable share in browse mode
2) subdir of an unavailable share in find mode
3) subdir of an unavailable share in find mode
4) subdir of drive c:

1) didn't have an icon - ok
I got a message for 2) telling me it's not available - ok, I guess
No message for 3) - ko
And if I select 4) TV3 crashes with an error code 91 - ooooooooooooops.

And as described before, I get only one message for 2) and then there are different ways to proceed after the message:

- If I select 2) TV3 hangs and I have to shut it down via task manager
- If I select 4) I get the error message described and TV3 crashes

Nothing else to explain the situation...

Thanks, Ralph. I could fix the hang-bug, but could not reproduce the crash-bug Right now I'm out of ideas. Maybe it's gone with the next BETA...
