Well, there's a logic to it. See viewtopic.php?p=148225#p148225
Two tips:
1) Set a delay, say 300, to the filter here: Configuration | Find and Filter | Filters & Type Ahead Find | Live Filter Box | Delay before filter is applied (in milliseconds). The "Go Up" function will not be triggered while the delay is still happening.
2) Instead of repeated Backspace simply use ESC to fully clear the filter box.
When in "Live filter box", how to prevent back key to navigate folders?

PS: Made up my mind: I will make it optional (finally I'm getting soft...

Thanks for option. Now I don't have to change my typing habitsadmin wrote:PS: Made up my mind: I will make it optional (finally I'm getting soft...).
But I've notice another issue now. Is there a way to have the Live Filter box always visible? Ever since I enabled the 'Redirect typing to LFB', whenever I backspace-clear the box, it gets toggled off. Even if I had manually toggled it on previously:
1. Toggle on LFB
2. Set focus to List
3. Type to auto-live filter
4. Backspace to clear the filter
5. LFB gets toggled off, list gains focus, backspace key navigates up (even if the new 'enable navigation' is disabled).

Why is that a problem?

Re: When in "Live filter box", how to prevent back key to navigate folders?
This wouldn't be a problem by itself. But this 'toggling off' of the LFB sort of overrides the new 'disable navigation from backspace' option.
For example, if I manually toggle on the LFB, the do some file operations, then do a 'Type ahead LFB', the app thinks that the LFB was toggled on by the 'Type ahead' event. So, when I backspace the last character, it toggles it off. And if the backspace is held, then it navigates up.
It's really just an inconvenience, no big deal. Your tip about 'Esc' instead of backspace is doable for me, tbh.

Well, I think XY's responsibility to protect from yourself ends here.
Good you got ESC working.
