Hi,
I don't know if this has been that way all along but..
When I rename an item and it results in a name collision and I decide to overwrite the existing file, then...
1) the modified date is overwritten (taken from the renamed file) but
2) the created date is not overwritten (but it is taken from the existing file)
What sense does this make to anyone, please?

Re: overwrite on rename & created date
Don't know how long this has been the case, maybe forever, but, I agree with you, this is not correct behavior. Rename a file in Windows Explorer and none of the three standard timestamps are changed (Created, Modified, Accessed).
Simply renaming a file should not logically modify Created or Modified. I could see possibly Accessed, but Windows Explorer doesn't appear to even touch that.

Re: overwrite on rename & created date
Greetings,
I agree that none of the dates should change with a rename.
A reasoned argument could be made for MODIFIED, but since File Explorer doesn't change it I would rather XYP did not either. Doc
