However, I didn't manage to add an icon to an item. Is this an exception? Or do I not know the correct syntax?Syntax is from SC popupmenu(), which gives you a whole lot of options.

There is in fact one case where you cannot state a custom icon: Today's new script item. It's hard-coded to take the "script" icon.
