Color Filter Question

Post by VeeGee »

Good morning all,
I have the Toggle Instant Color Filter / Created or Modified Today enabled and it is working great. One thing I noticed is, if I create a new subfolder that is several levels deep, the root folder doesn't get highlighted, but all the other levels do.

For example, I have :
C:\Projects\WF\Outbound
and if I create
C:\Projects\WF\Outbound\PMGR\062117\062117_094237
All these folders \PMGR\062117\062117_094237 are green, but the Outbound isn't. If I make a folder one-level deep under Outbound, e.g. C:\Projects\WF\Outbound\NewFolder, Outbound does highlight.

The folder C:\Projects\WF is a locked tab that I am working in, so you can see where it would nice for Outbound to turn green as well since something underneath it was modified or created today.

Is there a setting that I am missing about how many levels deep it goes back ? Also, in my examples above, C:\Projects\WF\Outbound\PMGR already exists (created months ago). The dated folders are the newly created ones.

The modified date only propagates to it's parent folder

So when you create 062117 the parent PMGR gets it's modified date changed
but not Outbound. So -> Outbound will not be colorized accordingly. This is
not something XY specific, Windows Explorer shows exactly the same behavior

Thank you for the explanation. Based on that, since this is normal behavior (in and out of XY), I've modified my export routine to create and remove a temporary folder during it's processing so it triggers Outbound as a modified parent. I tested it on another folder and it worked, pretty easy fix on my end once I had your explanation.

Thanks again.
