Now all we need is for jacky to find a good place on wiki for link to it (haven't seen any posts from him yet today) and then I probably should link to wiki from blog also...(UPD: just added blog=>wiki link)

I'm still trying to verify if and how the email RSS feed works...running a test with one of my other email accts...I needed to make that look like RSS email didn't come from MY personal email so used the support@XY as substitute for now...is there another better one? Maybe have a updates@XY for this?

If this email thingy works as I hope, maybe then we can add that subscribe link also to support page...

No, one email is enough for me. So support@XY...

BUT: I'm not sure what's common practice here, but I'd prefer that people do not reply to those RSS emails, because I have enough emails per day already. I mean, it's very easy to reach me per email, if you want it, but it should be tad harder than just pressing the reply button, you understand?
So: if it's possible to add a sentence like "Do not reply... In case of confusion join the Beta Club...", that would be fine.

BTW, if I didn't use a substitute email addr for this subscription thing, it would generate as coming from a 'JC@gmail' type addr, which isn't great for me either

...maybe I could make it a typical non-existant variant? Like "updates.no-reply@xyplorer.com"? As long as it comes from "xy.com", that should suffice to pass users spam filters...they'd have to make sure of that, but we presume SOME intelligence if they're using XY!

I have very little control over what is created in the email body using FeedBurner...there are the typical unsubscribe links at end automatically...

And my only other definable value is the Subject line which also appears at top of body...I didn't have that in first test, but now have it set as "[XYplorer blog] Here's the latest info for you:" which is short enough to be seen in my ePrompter window, and which makes it easy to spot.

Also, I've gone back as far as v6.10 on May 31 with back-dated 'updates' and that's probably far enough...covers four 'official releases' that way..
It's been a fair amount of work to do those, but NO where as much work as you did to make the coding changes...doing that makes one realize even more how much effort you really put into this!

That's part of reason I thought I could help out a bit and maybe provide a way for users to get informed of updates and stuff (though not as instantly as reading forum directly)...I was thinking of maybe also giving jacky the ability to maintain/update the blog and maintain the RSS, as he seems quite responsible, and would provide another backup in case I'm out-of-service, like traveling or ill.

The FeedBurner acct is tied to my gmail but is a separate acct from the one I setup for my other site...so having access shared on very limited basis shouldn't be a problem, IMO...

Both these look really spanky with the "correct" date format I knew you'd appreciate the ISO date format Don... not that I think you're a stickler or anything =D

I think it would be nice to get rid of the bullet points, since there are already +++, - and !! that do the same kind of job. Try editing your theme's stylesheet and replacing this:

Well, this looks like yet another nice looking blog dedicated to XY! Nicely done, jc
Seems while it might not be so most "notable" software around to some, it sure creates of lot of love and devotion from its users!

Using it to give away some inside on features and such could be a nice idea too indeed.

I also want to do a Tip-of-the-day ("Did you know...?") since long. Well, well...

hehe... yeah actually I also have a few things like that I'm working on for the wiki, but I haven't had much time to work on them lately.

I don't really like the bullet points either, but...since I'm clueless on CSS and was unable to see a way to get 2nd-Nth lines always indented as in History.Txt so that the +++, !, etc. stand out properly, I resorted to adding bullets to make it easier to spot each change item, ok? BTW, I tried your code in preview mode, and it's harder to read, IMHO.
It's a PITA to add them, but it's worse to try and get the other needed lines indented a bit...that one IF/ELSE p-code was the worst.

Yes, I see that you're on the subscriber list now...and...you'll note that I had the blog updated within about 15 min of when you posted update to forum...I just happened to be looking at it and was still up...not sure I'll be able to do it that quickly each time, but I'll try to get it within 24 hrs most times...

Now, did you realize that 6.30.01 is not yet in History.txt? I had to pull text from the forum entry...

I had only looked at that file on occasion, so it'd been a while, and when I wanted to create blog history, guess I just happened to time it right to match an official release! Hey, I can't keep track of everything! Sorry!
So I'll just pull changes for blog from forum posts...no problem, as I still have to reformat them about as much, like converting font, adding bullets (still wish there was a better way without them), adding indents as needed, removing blanks, etc...

1) I believe you should add a disclaimer, like on the wiki and tutorial blurbs, that this blog is not fully maintained by yourself...maybe ",created and maintained by a devoted user," or similar?

I've changed my blog header to say
This USER created blog contains important news or tips, such as change logs... to hopefully avoid any issues that may arise...I think you know I'll never intentionally do anything to harm XY's reputation, but blogs have been known to get hacked, so having it clear that you aren't the originator of the blog should help in that case.

2) How about adding the link to the email vers of blog feed there also? It's: http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailver ... &loc=en_US

I'm gettin a bit irritated with the Blogger software! Make that upset!
Seems that it wants to interpret most all "<" and ">" as HTML tags even when they aren't! So those new syntax values where it used to be "{ini}" and are now "<ini>" can't be shown as such! It even converted the "OS < XP" in latest update to "OS <>"! Not good!

So IF anyone sees something that doesn't quite match history or looks odd, it may be due to this issue...just a FYI!

And I may have missed some of these in old history when I posted them so will have to review and try to fix somehow...

Update! Found a workaround! Have to convert any < to < and > to > which is a PITA, but gets correct results...yuk, more work!
