Grabbing a file from one tab and dragging it to the other

Post by Laughing Man »

Is there any option to change it from copying to moving?

Holding down CTRL or SHIFT while dragging will modify the behavior.

Even in Win Expl, I could never keep track of which key was which, so I got used to right-click there to make choice of move/copy correctly when I drag a file...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

It's not that dificult: "Shift" = "Move", isn't that almost the same meaning in English?

Random House Webster thinks so:
2. to transfer from one place, position, person, etc., to another: to shift the blame onto someone else.
But I still like the right click and drag

Well, part of the/my problem was/is that it depends on where one is dragging the file what the default behavior is, ok? When dragging to another drive (without click or keys), it's a copy, but to same drive it's a move, true?...and yes, the icon does change to indicate which, but as I don't often move or copy files (sometimes only every few days), and just couldn't keep the Shift vs Cntl straight in my mind, I gave up!

Well, default behavior might differ yes, but you could force yourself never to use it and always hold Ctrl or Shift ;)
Or - as mentioned - simply right-drag, there you'll be able to choose, have extra options, or cancel the whole thing.
