Hello!
I recently upgraded my PDF Viewer from version 2.5 to version 6. Currently, both versions are on my computer. Version 6 is set in Windows as default PDF handler. PDF Icons did not update in XYPlorer until once exiting and reopening XYPlorer.
However, upon doubleclicking on a PDF file in XYPlorer, the older version of my viewer is fired up. If oppening the same directory in Windows Explorer and double clicking the PDF file, the newer version is opened, as expected.
So why does this not happen in XYPlorer and how could I fix it?
XYPlorer 15.90
Win7 Pro 32 bit
PDF XChange Viewer 2.5
PDF XChange Editor6 Plus <removed>
Thanks,
Alex

Check if the open commands for .pdf extensions are in the Wow6432Node as well (XYplorer is redirected to this automatically -> It won't see any changes that were only made in the non Wow6432Node parts)

HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node has entries solely for FastPictureViewer, Kaspersky and Microsoft. No open commands for any extension
Am I looking in the wrong place?
Allow me to emphasize again that my system is 32Bit, not 64Bit.
Thanks!

Yeah, you're right. I missed that info
Are you sure that you don't use a CFA (Custom File Association) in XY that opens the old viewer?

I thought that was used only if Ctrl-Alt-Enter-ing the file, not on double click, but it turns out that changing the order there leads to Acrobat opening the files. So I inserted as top row the newer version (Editor6) and now it works. Not sure if that solved it or just "hacked" it, but thanks!highend wrote:Are you sure that you don't use a CFA (Custom File Association) in XY that opens the old viewer?

No, double clicks trigger CFAs as well. And this is the solution, not a hack. It would work as expected if you haven't had a wrong CFA order / a CFA at all
