Completely hide "Columns Bar"? Also Some Suggestions!

Columns bar in any other explorer automatically hides it self if not on "Details view mod",
In XYplorer it's always there in all view mods!!!

1- would be nice if we have an option to Show/Hide the Columns bar (looked everywhere, if its there can someone point me)!
2- Why no drag and drop in List and Details view mods?
3- In Details view mod, choosing the basic columns (size, length, bit rate, album, year, author... ) , makes accessing tabs "heavy", it needs some more work! Considering in "xplorer2 " you can choose alot of columns and it doesn't effect anything!

Hi and welcome to the club,

1) untick Configuration | Sort and Rename | Sort | Show sort headers in all views
2) ??? there is drag and drop (unless you ticked Tools | Customize List | Manual Sorting)
3) Hm, I don't believe that. It's the same work in every file manager. Only that some things are faster in XY (the photo properties).

An option to enable drag/drop in Manual sorting context menu while manual sorting is ON would be helpful,
Following the black line to Sort, And if on a highlighted folder triggers drag/drop!

General Remarks on Custom Columns
· You pay a price for this feature: Retrieving and processing all this extra information takes time. The shell as used here is v-e-r-y slow compared to XYplorer's native functions, so browsing a list with Custom Columns using shell properties will be notably slower than browsing a list without such columns. Also running a script for each item in a list and for each column of type "Script" takes a lot of time.

I only have the following Columns selected (Name, Authors, Size, Album, Year, Genre,Bit rate, Length)
Accessing a folder contains 30gb of pictures, takes more then 20 seconds

Accessing the same folder using xplorer2 ultimate x64 (same columns selected), takes NO time at all, its instant.

6- StrokesPlus navigation gestures (back and forward). are not working, all other gestures work fine!

5- finally on a locked tab, Adding a lock icon on that tab instead of underlining the tab would be nice

1) How many picture files are in the folder? Any non-picture files as well?
2) So the problem is that listing picture files is slow when audio property columns are shown? What are the extensions of these picture files?

1- There is 250 folders with sub folders , and the 2500 only pictures (jpg, jpeg, png)
2- Nope listing only picture properties seems to be slow as well
i just tried adding only the following columns (Name, Size, Contributing artists, Attributes, Model, Camera model)
and it gets slower the more columns you add,
But with the same columns, accessing other folders (Movies or Music) doesn't effect anything.

Also i tried it on xplorer2 ultimate and Explorer++ and Directory Opus and the native windows explorer, all have instant access!

Yes, I can confirm this for x2. I have an old copy here and it's indeed faster. Shocking. I never thought anything could be faster than XY. It must be something about the architecture, how the app is integrated in the shell. This is nothing I can change easily. Nor do I want to. It's a good thing that XY works independently of the shell in its core. The price for this is when XY needs the shell (like here with the extended file properties), then the access is slower.

TIP: Well, "needs the shell", of course all these props are in the file, so there are ways to access them without the shell. And I did this for many of the most important properties for audio and image files. These are the so-called "Special Properties" in XY. If you use the Special Properties in your columns you will see much faster action.

HOPE: Nevertheless I had a small idea that will speed up the shell approach somewhat (and certainly notably). Check out the next beta.
