tool bar background color

Post by hdelman »

Ver 16.50.0200 Hi. I've been using XYPlorer on my Windows7 machine for a couple of years. I just migrated it to a new Windows10 machine, by copying the application and application data files. All seems good except for one thing. On my older machine, the tool bar, menu bar, column headings, etc., were all a nice shade of light brown. On the new machine, they are all white. I can't find where this is specified. How can I get them back to a color other than white? Thanks.

Hi Jerry. Thanks for the information. It did change the color of the toolbar, but not the menu bar, nor the column headings. Is there a way to do that, or is this just a shortcoming of Windows 10 that didn't exist in Windows 7?

I would use a stronger word than "shortcoming" to describe the situation! :| But no, as far as I know, there is no way in Windows 10 to permanently change the background color for menus, menu bar or column headings. You can load in the old Windows 7 registry keys for setting these colors, but they won't stick. Use the feedback function in the Start Menu to send strong grievances to Microsoft about this. Frankly, for me, the only worthwhile improvement in Windows 10 is the nifty TaskView feature; the rest is nuisance and loss of previous functionality.
