Open with notepad++

Hello,
I'm new to XYplorer. I am using notepad++ a lot and would like to get a feauture back i use a lot on windows explorer : on right mouse click the context menu 'open with notepad++'. Could somebody give me a hint on this?

Welcome to the forum

You're using a 64-bit OS and the 64-bit version of Notepad++. But it doesn't install a 32-bit shell extension for the context menu (and XY is a 32-bit application) so you don't see it under it's normal context menu entries.

You can either choose "Show 64-bit Context Menu" inside XY's context menu after clicking a file or make this the default with:
Menu - Tools - Configuration... - Other - Shell Integration - [x] Show the 64-bit context menu

I have the 32 bit NP++ and still had to take steps to make it appear in XY's context menus.
I did this through the registry editor. Just added it to the all files node (*) and done.
The 64-bit context menu extender adds other issues so I had never used it myself.

I handle such things with PFA (Portable File Associations). Much faster than the shell context menu and I have full control.

This is my catch-all definition for EmEditor:

|"EmEditor" *>EmEditor

The rest is one mouse-down on the Open With toolbar button, followed by a mouse-up on "EmEditor". That's one click.

It's always more straightforward and comfortable to have the entry directly in the file-context-menu "in place" in the list rather than having to select the file first, then open a toolbar button at the top of the screen.

You can add the "Open With..." menu to the context menu (Configuration | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Context Menus | File List...).
