Driver Toolbar

Post by mekd »

I have just downloaded XYplorer.
I didn't have the time yet to fully test its features, but I have noticed one missing feature which I am used to in all the current file managers that I use.
A separate toolbar that lists all the drives, including removable ones, that are connected to the computer. This toolbar enables me to navigate quickly from one drive to the other.
I am very surprised about XYplorer lack of this feature as ALL other file managers have it.
I have seen now that there is a button of DRIVES on the regular toolbar that has a drop down drives list. Its nice but I prefer a separate horizontal drives list.

Can we use CKS for drive shortcuts yet? Or is that coming with SCKS?
Used to update to the latest beta every day. Now I have children instead…

You can have a KS that will popup the Drives menu, like the TB button does.

You can't yet have have one to go to a predefined location (drive root or other) for now, but this should be doable with "scriptable hotkey", that should be there for 6.30, so not in a long (beta) future...

Hehe! :) It's not the only one! XYplorer also does NOT have:

- Dual Pane
- Zip Support
- FTP Support
- Find Duplicates
- Dir Synchronization
- Built-in Editor
- Split/Join Files

So what?!

Yes. :) And in a somewhat longer future there will be scriptable toolbar buttons, too... :D

Hi Mekd!! Welcome to XYplorer!!

I too thought the same as you did until XYplorer came up with its cool catalog thingy. You can create anything you like in this catalog and check out the xywiki to find out more about catalog. Well, just to show you i created the drives in my catalog in less than a minute (see screenshot below).

I understand that when you come from other file managers you expect every other file manager to have it, but tell you what XYplorer is not like any other file manager, its unique.

*drools*

And to add to what serendipity said, not only can the Calalog be used that way, but (obviously it's not limited to drives, you can reorder things, and) with its highlighting features (colors) it makes it so much more powerful IMO.

Not only because colors make it easier/faster to locate what you're looking for, but combine those background colors on Catalog with Boxed Branches on Tree and it will change your life! 8)

BTW, quick way to create a "drive bar-like" category on your Catalog, it only requires one click or two:
- Go to My Computer
- Right-click Catalog and choose "Insert as New Category Here/Current List"
- Voilà!
