Are special settings required for 'contents' searches of documents?

The attached part A shows:
Find Files, location, whole word does NOT need to be checked
Office files, contents

Part B shows: morten, contents
Type does not matter 'text' or 'binary and text'

The result was:
1 .bak file
2 .doc files
9 .ini
1 .klm
2 .txt
3 .xxt
files
BUT NONE OF THE .DOCX files - yes there were at least one.

Is this another oversight or error similar to 'custom sort' will block
'drag and drop' ???

Am I missing some settings?

First of all, does this happen if you run a fresh instance?

xyplorer.exe /fresh

No settings in the Name & Location panel will apply because Name is not checked under Applied filters. (Also, there is a separate Whole Words option in the Contents panel.) Still, the default is to search all files, including your *.docx.

Does the search word appear in the docx without hyphenation, and as text (ie. not in an embedded graphic or other special format)?

Thanks for the reply. I'm just very short on time this week. Tried a number of things but not
the xyplorer.exe /fresh - Complete news to me - then again I have not written any programs since early DOS.
Why or what would it show?
I have the $80 pro ver and 17.10.007 Beta unaltered and was hoping - once again that it was something I overlooked.
Has anybody tested contents on docx documents with correct outcome?
I have a backup PC and plans for getting the latest Beta.

I'm really more concerned about the feature 'custom sort' will block
'drag and drop' - I would be using this every day - in place of other software.

Searching Office contents works fine if you have the necessary iFilters (x86) installed...

Running "xyplorer.exe /fresh" will run with default settings to see if there's something in your configuration causing the problem. If not, it will also then help others to reproduce the problem.

Yes, I did test a content search on a folder with docx files and it worked ok. I'm using beta version 17.20.0103. I don't know what iFilters is or whether it comes with Windows 10 Pro or not; I didn't knowingly install it, if it's required to get this to work.

Post your custom sort/drag & drop issue in a separate topic.

Ran all kinds of tests - sos (same old s**t)
I even took a txt file that it found and made it into a docx file in the same folder - sos
It does find by name.

Select a docx file and run this script:

What do you get?

If you get an error (Failed to load an IFilter), then it is likely that no 32-bit IFilter is available for that format.
If you get a dialog with no text content, then the IFilter couldn't extract anything useful from the file.
If you get a dialog with text content, then this is the content that XY will search for your content query.
