Hi All,
In a folder where i have only pictures (about 200) of pspimage (an internal image format manage by Paint Shop Pro).
When I created the folder to save these images, the thumbnails was shown (marvellous).
But when I added pictures (of same format) none was shown.
I tried to refresh the thumbnails, nothing to do (Create thumbnails is greyed)
in Configuration, create thumbnails for non-image and create thumbnails all at once are both checked.
I tried to empty thumbs cache, it failed without saying why
As the path is indicated, I remove the thumbnails manually.
In my folder NONE is shown now and unable to recreate them.
I know that this format is proprietary, but at the beginning they were shown.
What's the problem ?
Thanks for your answer.

Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Hi Calade, try this. Go to the menu Tools | Configuration | Thumbnails. Look over the options there and make sure that "Show cached thumbnails only" is not selected. When that is selected obviously XY will only show cached thumbnails. So in that case (i.e., with that option selected), if you add additional pictures, thumbnails for those images will not be shown unless you check off "Create missing thumbnails" (#507) in the "Caches" menu under the main menu View. Make sure "Create all thumbnails at once" is also selected in the Thumbnail configuration under Tools as well. Hopefully that's all it is.
Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it's not that.
The "Show cached thumbnails only" check-box was not selected and the "Create all thumbnails at once" was checked.
I've tried to select 1 picture and click menu "refresh selected thumbnail" in the Cache menu, but nothing appears.

Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Hi Calade, when you are in a folder of thumbnails in a thumbnail view, whatever folder you're having the issue, and you click on the View Menu and then Caches at the bottom, what do you see? Is the menu item "Create missing Thumbnails" grayed out? If not try clicking on it. It probably will be greyed out. You mentioned they are PSP images. Maybe something changed in XY's thumbnail generation in the time from when the original thumbnails were generated in the folder to the time when you added additional images? I think you said the images are exactly the same type (i.e., all psp images of the same format). Try copying some of the images to a temporary folder - some that had thumbnails originally and some that you can't get thumbs for now. See if XY creates new thumbs for the images in the temporary folder or which ones it does or doesn't. If not, you may have to send Don some of the images to see if he can look into the issue especially if you could get thumbs at one time and now can not. Good luck.
Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Thanks,
In the Cache menu, "Create missing Thumbnails" is greyed out, the other menus don't do anything.
The folder was created recently (19th of November 2015) and I use version 16.00.200, perhaps it was another version at that time but it was version 16.00, I'm sure of that.
I created 2 temporary folders with one with "View Thumbnails" activated and saved and the other "View Details"
In the second when I ask for thumbnails, I don't see them, only the area for them, and same thing in the first one.
I'm sure that first the thumbnails were visible, but are you sure that the pspimage format of Paint Shop Pro version X8 is supported
I change of PSP version the 23rd of November, perhaps the format has been modified between the 2 versions of PSP. I ask on PSP forum and I tell you.
Thanks for your answer.

Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
So nothing you've recently done or have done was that long ago. Unfortunately I don't know if PSP images are supported in XY and I don't have any to test to see if that's the case. I went to their web site, but I couldn't find a version history and whether they may have changed their picture format or use of imbedded thumbnails. I know some paint programs give you the option on whether you want the images to contain embedded thumbnails. I say that because in some instances the imbedded thumbnails may cause issues for XY.
Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
I've made some tests this morning.
- Check my pspimages was always not displayed in XY, they aren't.
- Reinstall PXPX7
- Create a new image an save it in a new folder as a pspimage, it IS displayed
- Modify it in PXPS8 and save aside the first one, it IS still displayed
- uninstall version X7 and check for my pictures, they are also displayed.
- modify the previous picture and save it aside the others in pspformat too in this temp folder. IT IS NOT Displayed.
So it seems, that it is the presence of X7 which permits to display these pictures, isn't it ? whatever the version with which they were created.
To enforce this, I've gone to my folder with all my pictures BEFORE uninstall X7 and my thumbnails were back.
So, I don't know if the previous compatibility was the will of the developers. If that's the case I can send you to update XY.
Otherwise I can live with 2 versions of PSP even if one is obsolete and never launched.

Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Hi Calade, have you checked or can you check the version history for PSP for what the developers changed in version 8? Do they have a forum? Is so, ask if there may be a cause for your problem especially since the thumbnails seem to be generated in version 7 properly and not in version 8 they are not. If there isn't a forum, email their support team. It may be an issue they are not aware of and can fix. Did you also check PSP's configuration concerning internal thumbnails or some other behavior that might affect thumbnails. I believe there are options on some of the higher end graphics programs.
Re: Create/Refreshing Thumbnails
Sorry for the delay, but since I've asked such a thing I've no more replies.
I'll tell you if I have one.

Thanks for the reply after all these months !
No, no answer from Corel.
Anyway, I can live with that.
Thanks again.
