[Solved]How To Bookmark A Website, In Xyplorer?

Post by XypUsr999 »

How can I save a bookmark to a subdirectory in Xyplorer?

I often have related information stored in:
Open Office Files, stored to Xyplorer folders.
Thunderbird Files, exported to Xyplorer folders.
And Website Bookmark Files, Usually in Pale Moon Browser.

This involves keeping 3 complete sets of directories & subdirectories, plus trying to remember where it is stored. I can easily save files to folders in Xyplorer, from Open Office & Etc. And I have been able to export my Thunderbird files, as .eml, to file folders in Xyplorer, although it is a big pain.

But I cant figure out how to EASILY save a website bookmark, to an Xyplorer folder. It seems like I should be able to drag a tab from my browser, or copy paste an address, directly to a file folder. Am I missing something, or No Can Do?

Thanks for any help!

You fully select the text in the address bar of your browser and drag and drop it into XY?

Yes, Thank You, that works, and helps. Cant believe I never stumbled on that way.

However, it shows in the file folder as: DroppedText-20160915.txt

Is there a way to show it as the actual link, without clicking open the .txt file? Such as below:

Thanks

I'm not using PaleMoon atm so I can't comment on what you get.

Dragging from Firefox into XYplorer (this threads url) leads to:

Code: Select all

XYplorer Beta Club • View topic - How To Bookmark A Website, In Xyplorer.URL
Double clicked, done...

I can help with this one. I use Palemoon but it is the same with any browser I've used.
After selecting the address, using single click or triple click to select, move the mouse pointer to the area left of the address. Drag from there to XY.
If you drag the highlighted address it will show up as dropped text in XY.
Give it a try.

Thanks to both!

The solution from kodyman works great, and as shown by both answers, does not hide it in a .txt file when using Pale Moon.

It also works for dragging any link directly into a Libre Office Calc file, easily, and in less time than when starting from Calc.

It also works for hooking onto the same left edge symbol of any current bookmark in Pale Moon, and dragging it into a Calc file, or into an XY folder.

This will help me begin to reorganize my file system. Thanks to both of you!

There is no such function in the current version of the board software so prefixing the title with [Solved] is a viable solution

Since threads in the forum might be reused later for variations of the initial problem (and most of the threads are not marked as solved anyway) it might get a bit confusing.
Why not leave it to the one looking for information in regard to the subject to decide whether it solves his/her problem too and leave the subject as it was? A changed subject gets applied only to the posts submitted after the change which makes it even more confusing I think.
