Hey community,
I'm wondering if I can search for custom attributes / content of columns.
I've created a custom column showing the resolution of video files.
Now I want to search for all files with specific values of those columns.
Thankful for any hint.
Regards,
Tom

Okay... thanks for your answer. Please let's keep my question a little bit more common.
The resolution is just an example.

Re: Search for custom content (columns)
As long as your custom column retrieves values from the tag database?
Ctrl + f (invokes search)
Name & Location
Name: ex2:"1920 x 1080"
In this case I'm assuming you used the extra2 field to tag your files. If you just tagged them,
you would have used tags: instead of ex2:

Re: Search for custom content (columns)
I didn't tagged them, it's a script for the column..
Code: Select all
$width = property('System.Video.FrameWidth', <cc_item>);
$height = property('System.Video.FrameHeight', <cc_item>);
$dimensions = $width x $height;
return $dimensions;-

Ic.
In this case you use the <name of the column>:<search term>
E.g.:
auflösung:1280 x 720

It is
But it's only a very small paragraph in the help file that explains it:

Notes:
· In the case of custom columns and extra tags the field selector is identical to the column caption (case-insensitive).

Re: Search for custom content (columns)
Hi. First post on the forum.
I'm currently having a little headache regarding searching with the custom columns.
What i'm trying to do is to search for pictures with a specific date. For example, 06/04/2010. Using the custom column #2 (named "Date Taken") show the dates but i'm not getting any results when doing the search with it.
Using <name of the column>:<search term> or cc2:<search term> simply don't work. I've read the help several times but no clue what more can i try.
Anyone can give me a hint? Thanks!

Re: Search for custom content (columns)
Welcome to the forum.
date taken:06/04/2010*
should do it. That column does not only contain a date, but a time as well...
