Is there a way or setting to have XY consistently (and automatically) display the last thumbnail captured
by a screen capture program?

Yes. Without more details? No.
idea: with a script that loops itself after a little wait, and shows the latest image with a certain name pattern in a given folder. Of course this will block most other operations, even if the wait is pretty liberal.

What I am doing is capturing data with a screensaver program (Faststone) and sending it
to the current folder in XY where I make sure that Auto-Refresh is on. Doing these captures is never a sure thing.
So I like to see that the file actually was created and it is not duplicate info etc.
I may capture between 5 and 10 portions of screens at a time.
Seems that if auto-refresh was faster for the current folder then the problem would have been resolved.
I have a total of 12TB of storage on four drives (two are SSD of one TB each - my working drives).

What takes place now is that the folder is updated but NOT sorted to "Created" or "Modified."
If there are 20 items in the folder then the display will show files around around item 10 and NOT item 20 the newest.
It take a resort to do that.
