OT: My Win Expl tree icons now show gray backround?

Ok...so I know this forum is for XY, but everyone here has used WE before...
I did something this morning that caused my WE icons in the tree to have a gray box background on them, and I don't know what I did to cause it so I can put it back...

I was checking on Appearance and color used for "Window Text" to check out another issue, and set it to a non-white and then back again, and after that, I noticed the gray background on tree icons...

Closing WE and restarting it had no effect...

Any ideas out there?

Oh, and I have to resort to WE for some limited tasks, like working in Recycle Bin, etc...

Well, I tried exactly the way you did but I dont get that effect. hmmm no clue as to what could make this happen. I
am sure you tried restarting too. Maybe from the themes thingy you can set it back to windows classic or whatever ur original thing was. might help, not sure.
