Backing up files with MODIFIED Tags, Labels and Comments

Searching the forum I've found topics on making folder backups to include tags, labels and comments. And have been pretty much successful in doing it. Except when trying to reuse the backup on a different PC. That's a different topic I'll cover at another time.

I am using v16.70.0000 on Win7, I have portable tags enabled.
I am backing up to an identical folder(s) on a thumb drive.

Hope the rest of this makes sense...

I have set up a folder with several sub-folders to keep track of some web bookmarks and other types files. Call this the master copy.
If I add a new URL link (or other file type) and add tag(s), label and/or comment I can use Backup To (#222) or copy with drag/drop. I get the pop-up "Click Yes to copy all source item tags (Label, Tags, Comment) to the target item(s)." and select Yes. It backs up perfectly including the tags, label & comment.

Here's my problem. If I add or modify any of the tags, labels or comments to an existing "file" in the master copy that has already been backed up, these changes are not copied over when I do another backup. None of the skip, overwrite if newer or other collision options fit. The only thing that does is overwrite all. This takes way more time to do the operation if only a couple of things were changed.

Is there a way to do a backup of just the files I have modified tags. labels or comments instead of overwrite all?

Ofc this could be handled by a script but it wouldn't be mega fast (for each item it would need to check if the tag / label or comment has changed).

What's probably missing is an option for "On name collisions" like: Overwrite if different tag, label or comment

Not the answer I was hoping for right now. I'll watch for the ability in a future update.
I'm surprised this hasn't come up before. Or I'm trying to use XY differently than others when it comes to tags/labels/comments???

A real world example please

- Source folder name (with path)
- Destination folder name (with path)
?

Only files contain tags, labels, comments?
Do you use plain english file names?
On which drive is XYplorer's installed / portable directory?
Show me the entries in your tag.dat for one file in the source folder and the matching one for the destination folder

I haven't been able to dedicate enough time to provide the examples you've requested but have been watching new version changes and feature additions.
Reading the notes on just released 17.00.0201, will any of these changes help accomplish what I describe in my initial post?

These changes are only about how the path for for files / folders are stored in the database. No change in the copy mechanism / options -> Doesn't change anything in your case.

I'm not sure if this is the best way of doing it but I think I'll give it a try. Since I have a pro license I am going to put a portable version on the USB stick dedicated to just the folders and files/url links I am keeping track of using tags, labels and comments. I can then move the USB stick between computers. Plus make a full backup copy of everything to another stick for safety. I figure as long as I only access and modify this certain set of files from the USB with the portable XY set-up and not with my main installed version of XY I should be ok. We'll see.

But better things are coming soon. I will add scripting commands (maybe even some UI commands) that allow you to load a certain tags database. If it has been stored "Relative to tags database" then it can travel with the tagged items and will work wherever it is located. There will also be a command to export tags from the main database to a local database that stays with the data.

Thank you Don. Then that's how I'll do it for now.
I'm sure adding scripting commands will provide more versatility and is the #1 way to go. For my uses though (and maybe others), UI commands would be easier. I wish it were, but I've figured out scripting is just not my forte. So if you CAN add both that would be great!!
