HowTo finally, definitely, ultimately stop "find files&

Post by ogroeger »

Hello,

is there any way to stop the "find files" in a way that it doesn't continue after some time? If i do a "find files" and stop it with ESC or via the stop button, the search stops, but it continues after some time when i work in another window (Firefox or any other application). I'm not sure what the trigger is for xyplorer to continue, but this drives me crazy. The only safe way i found so far is to close xyplorer.

No, the other safe way is to turn off Auto-Refresh.

I will re-evaluate whether this should be done automatically on a search results tab.

:?: : Could Auto-Refresh for Search Results tab be isolated as sub-option? So that it may be toggled separately from other "normal" tabs? Cause while I prefer/like A-R on the usual tabs, I also find (at times) that on SR tab, it can take quite a while (relatively) given the criteria I'm using...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

What about this instead: a new config option "Suspend auto-refresh on search results".

What's the ETA for cached search results and VF-without-refresh again?
Used to update to the latest beta every day. Now I have children instead…

Code: Select all

v6.10.0053 - 03.07.07 12:39
    * After (un)applying a Visual Filter the focused item is now kept in
view if possible. Hey, it even works with VF on Search Results.
    * Find Files: from now on -- experimentally -- Auto-Refresh is auto-
suspended for a Search-Results-listing (aka Finding tab). In other
words: Search Results are now frozen unless you explicitly
(re)activate Auto-Refresh on them. We'll see whether we like it...
    * When you enable Auto-Refresh you get an immediate automatic
Refresh File List (F5) since v6.10.0045. New: this will *not*
happen with search results. To trigger a (re-)search you have to
      press F3 or F5.
These are great, thanks for these Don - makes searching that little bit less painful. However, I believe their true worth will only show up once the results are cached so you can actually switch to another tab, do stuff and then click back to your search tab without it refreshing.

Just to reiterate though, I like these changes and I think they're the right option :)
