Restore Folder View

For some folders I need a different sort order, so I enabled the folder view settings and adjusted the sort setting for certain folders. For everything else I created a default view. Then I saved everything.

However the settings are not applied in the corresponding folder views, until I trigger "Restore Folder View" manally. How can I auto apply the settings each time I change the tab?

Any help is much appreciated.

You cannot. Tab Settings have precedence over Folder View Settings. Folder View Settings come into play when you go to a new location within the same tab.

BTW, it's normally not necessary to create a default view. The last view before entering a location with Folder View Settings is automatically restored when entering the next location without Folder View Settings.

It's even more consistent in windows file explorer, because the explorer restores the configured setup in the corresponding folder, regardless of the method you've chosen to display this folder. If the restore feature depends on certain other factors that are not obvious to the user, it doesn't really help. I even thought of a bug in the first place until I carefully read the doc where it is clearly stated and you now have it confirmed too:

"Note that XYplorer's multi-tabs also store view settings, of course. When going to a folder via tab switch, the tab's memory is valued higher than any associated Folder View. This way it is ensured that you always find a tab in the state you left it. The same is true on application startup: The last state will be exactly restored regardless of any active Folder View."

So it's more a design-bug That's really a shame because this could be very useful. Reading the feature description on the webpage "XYplorer's implementation is even better: It actually works!" sounds like cynicism when I take a closer look at the current implementation

Okay, enough complained I hope this will be improved so that the defined rules are always considered without strange and unintuitive exceptions.

No. It's essential that a tab opens exactly as it was closed.

If I define a rule that a certain folder should be displayed with a certain layout, I'm doing this because this is exactly what I want and not just for fun.

And if any program overwrites these rules that's just bad design in my opinion. Reminds me to MS word that sometimes adjusts user input 2 or 3 times in a row with the 'correct' version.
