Send me one of each (old and new) please. Or better, just upload them zipped together (dropbox, mega, whatever) and just post a link :)

Let's see if this works. First time I've added a zip file to a post.

Pics 1.zip are the 1st set of files I spoke about.
Pics 2.zip are the new ones from today.
I also added a screenshot with each set showing the photos using Thumbnails 3 the vertical preview window showing one of them.

Hope these help you figure out why I'm seeing them the way I am.
Need anything else let me know.

I viewed all the pictures in the new Preview window and all appear in the proper orientation. I have FastPictureViewer Codecs installed though. Silly question, but should be asked, do you have auto-rotate checked in both the "Preview" and the "Thumbnails" sections of Configuration?

Not silly at all, I didn't even know those options were there and just accepted that I had to turn my head ever so often when using the preview.
Thanks for saving me from possible future headaches. :om: :cup:

Nope, not silly at all klownboy.
I didn't have them checked.
Checking them took care of my rotated preview problem. :appl: But only half of my thumbnail problem. Now instead of my thumbnails in the Pics 2 group being rotated 180 they are just 90 degrees rotated.
Would buying and instaalling FastPictureViewer Codec fix the thumbnail?

Thanks for the answers.

Interesting question.

On my clean system (no video, audio, thumbnail programs / handlers /extensions) all your pictures are
1. Rotated correctly in the preview
2. Rotated correctly as thumbnails (#3 variant)

-> Conclusion: Auto-rotation of XY works fine, interpreting the EXIF orientation flag correctly
Exiftool states:
D:\Tools\@Command Line Tools\exiftool>exiftool.exe -orientation "R:\photo 2.JPG"
Orientation : Rotate 180

D:\Tools\@Command Line Tools\exiftool>exiftool.exe -orientation "R:\IMG_5479.JPG"
Orientation : Rotate 90 CW
Do you eventually have switched off:

Configuration | Thumbnails | Auto-rotate thumbnails
?

Hi kodyman, XY will not change your thumbnail view and correct for auto rotation unless you specifically rebuild the cache. So try going into the menu, View | Caches | Refresh Thumbnails. That should rebuild the thumbnails and put them in the proper orientation. You can also use CID #501 in the Address Bar or from the Help menu "List all Commands". I tested this by turning auto rotation off, deleted that specific thumbnail cache, rebuilt the cache and then turned auto rotation back on. The result was the thumbnail orientation was not correct. So that could be what happened in your case.

Thanks for the suggestions Klownboy. Sorry for the delayed response.
Still didn't help though. Except my thumbnails are back to only being 90 degree rotated instead of 180.
Since others are not reporting this, it's looking like it is something specific with my system causing the rotated thumbnails.
All of the previews... MDBU, vertical and floating are working and display perfectly. And as long as the pic isn't from an iphone all of my other pics display as they should in thumbnails.
So I am going to leave everything as it is for now. Fortunately I don't have that many iphone generated pics to deal with.
If that changes and I have just HAVE to see them in a thumbnails, I can use faststone or xnview.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I have a problem with PDF files.
I cannot preview them :(
I always get a black screen with the 'No Preview Available' message.

Preview does work correctly in Windows Explorer.
I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.

PDF files are associated to PDF-XChange Editor (portable version).

I also tried associating PDFs to Abode Reader DC, but I still have the problem.

What should I do to be able to preview PDF files in XYplorer ?
It is currently the only problem that prevents me from buying the app

black screen? Hmm, there is no black screen in XY (or are you talking about the Floating Preview?). Could you post a screenshot?

Sorry for the late reply but I was on vacation.
Yes, I was talking about the Floating Preview.
I finally installed SumatraPDF and it solved my problem ;)
