How to clear filters

Post by artnat »

I am amazed by this file manager program. But recently I am puzzled, how to remove a once set visual filter.
I once set a visual filter, but now I always get an error message, that the objects selectet dont fit the filter and cannot be shown. But with all help to filters I don't find a possibility, to remove this once set filters. I tried to set \|* to show everything. This works just for one path, but when I change the directory, I again get the error message and I must set the filter to \|* again. This is really a nuisance, and there must be a way, to reset the program to its original settings.

Menu - View - Folder View Settings - Manage Folder Views...

Do you have an entry that defines a visual filter there?

If yes it's applied to all folders (for which you don't have defined a different view)...

Apart from that:
Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Visual Filters | Persist visual filters across folders

Make sure it's off

Then: Remove the current visual filter and it should be working as expected

Thank You highend for your answer, bukt sorry, it didn't help me.

On Menu|View Folder View Settings doesn't exist on my installation.

On Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Visual Filters | not only Persist visual filters across folders but also all other options are off. Nevertheless the problem persists.

So you're using the free edition...

Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Visual Filters | Show filter information in list

Turn that on. It's the best way to see if a filter is active.

Right clicking on that filter line inside the list shows a context menu.

- Now, close all tabs. Only one will be open after doing this
- Right click the filter line, choose: Remove Filter
- Menu - File - Save settings

Restart XY
Does the current tab still show a filter? It shouldn't
When you now navigate inside that folder, does the filter reappear?
If you open a new tab and navigate there, does the filter reappear?
