Which makes me think that Don's new super-duper (when it shows up) key configuration feature needs to have a "suggest similar unused hotkey" option for when you tell something to use what is already being used!

Correct. I can easily raise this value up to 32,767 characters, but it will slow down startup.

I'm not sure, but i think that already exists, even on windows.

You can select several items through keyboard, just select the first one, then press ctrl and up/down and select the next one by pressing ctrl-space.

Unfortunatelly, there's no way do de-select them all at once (you have to move to each one and press ctrl-space again), but i guess it does what you're asking for. (or did i misunderstand you? sorry if so)

it seems to me that xplorer² has a neat feature called something like "sticky select" that, when activated, allows you to select non-contiguous files by simply clicking them one after the other.

Would this do what you want without too many keyboard commands to memorize? And, more importantly, wold it be a good addition to XY. I would tend to think so...

Thanks for the video effort. However, IMHO other things on the roadmap are more important. And the road is long...

Not quite. Yes you can use Ctrl+Keys to move around, it won't loose any selection. Ctrl+Space will select/unselect the focused item, that also works in XY btw

But the idea here, I think, was to be able to still only use the keys, change locations, make multi-selection, etc while having a bunch of (other) items being "marked", kind of another, permanent, selection.
