First post, new user, couple questions

Post by mitchmenghi »

Greetings, ive decided to use XYplorer because i found the interface the nicest of the bunch, i did really like Directory Opus but i found it overpriced.

Im in the process of learning and tweaking XY to my comfortable level. Here are a couple things im trying to get configured.

2 things...

1. With the normal Windows Explorer in Windows10 a nice feature is the
quick access folders that i can add special folders to, is there this
type of functionality in XY ?

2. Again with Windows Explorer a nice feature is being able to sort a
directory by whatever you want eg size, but then have an option to also
make folders show first in the sort... can i achieve this in XY ?

Looking forward to getting these answered and hopefully i can contribute to new users later on.

Welcome to the club.

1. In the tree? No. Apart from that there are e.g. favorite folders (Menu - Favorites), Menu - User - Go to (with keyboard shortcuts), scripts, ...
2.
[x] Configuration | Sort and Rename | Sort | Sort folders apart
[x] Configuration | Sort and Rename | Sort | Keep folders on top

Yes point 2 worked a treat, cant believe i missed that one.

Point 1, pretty big let down, i sort of presumed this was default, not sure why but i did.
I have seen the favorite folders and it does sort of work that way but it relies on me having to click on favorites up the top and branch out from there. Not really a shortcut way of getting to a favorite folder.

If favorites can be added to the left main tree up the top when a favorite folder is added or click and dragged across to it would be a very valuable feature.

I guess for now ill have to use one of the manual methods you mentioned... Cheers.
