Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Hey,
I seem to have a weird problem with the scaling of XYplorer. It's not working for me at all. I wasn't even aware that it should work since migrated to a new setup with Win 10 only a couple of days ago.
Specs:
XYplorer 16.20.0100
Windows 10
Display 1: Surface Pro 4 (2726 x 1824)
Display 2: Samsung 27" screen (1920 x 1080)
XYplorer always keeps the 100% scaling, regardless of where I move the window.
While browsing through the forum I found a couple of threads with certain scaling problems and then realized that XYplorer should scale automatically. Then I noticed that it's the only programm, that's not scaling. So I renamed my data folder to see if changes something.
And voilá, scaling works while its loading all the first startup stuff - but only until the initial language selection window pops up. I had some stuff running in the background so the startup process took a while and the window was kinda unresponsive but movable. After the language selection the scaling seems to be disabled again.
Is there anything I missed? Since it's also not really working with a "fresh install", too, I would assume, it's kind of a "per app" option in Windows. But I couldn't find any. Also, nothing is ticked in the preferences compatibilty tab of the XYplorer.exe, so that's not it.
Does anybody have a clue, what could be wrong with my setup?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of any scaling issues with XY. Maybe you ticked something in the compatibility tab. Remove all ticks:

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Thanks for the quick reply!
Ya, I searched the forum for this and found nothing similar. That's why I assumed something has to be wrong with my preferences.
But like already mentioned, nothing is ticked in the compatibility tab. Any other possibilies?
edit: Sorry for the huge pic, I still have to get used to these scaling shenanigans...what an irony

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Can you post a screenshot of XY that illustrates the problem, thanks.

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Ok, I hope the following 2 screenshots help to clarify things.
The left screen is the FHD monitor with the XYplorer window displayed in its normal size. The right one is the SP4, where the windows is the same size - not scaled. But since the SP4 screen is so much smaller, nothing is readable.
Like I wrote before, I have seen that it does scale after a clean install (only for a few secons, but still). So it has to be something wrong with my preferences/install, idk :-/
The scaling option for windows are the default ones: the FHD monitor with 100%, the SP4 with 200%. All other application scale fine, too.

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Hi,
I have the same problem ...
I have a main screen of 3840x2160 and 1920x1080 two secondary.
On my main screen: no problem. But on my secondary screens, the application is magnified.
With all my other applications when switching from one screen to the other, they also grow, but as soon as the transition is made, they then take the original size.
I tested this software since yesterday I am very satisfied and will definitely buy it. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to experience this problem, maybe this will help to resolve this display bug in a future release.

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Still not sure if I understand correctly. Are we talking about a problem that only arises in a dual monitor setup?

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
It depends on which screen you start up XYplorer (and then you move it to the other screen)?

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
Ah ok, maybe I wasn't really clear. And the thread headline seems wrong now, too. Scaling seems not to work, when using a two screen setup.
So ya, it's all about the 2 screen setup, you are correct.
Normally, when you start up an apllication on one monitor and then move it to another, the apllication window would scale according to the Windows settings. For me that's 100% and 200%. You can see the transition easily when the window is partly on the 1st screen and partly on the 2nd one. When coming from the 1080 screen, the window part on the 1080 is normal and the one on the 2736 screen is tiny (still 100%). The other way around it's normal on the 2736 and huge one 1080 screen (still 200%). After you completly moved the window to the other screen, the correct scaling kicks in.
If you want some screenshots comparing the intended behaviour, I can upload a comparison with the Windows Explorer, if you want.
Since I saw this described transition process briefly working as expected after the clean install test with XYplorer, I thought it should normally work and would be due to some wrong preference of mine somewhere in the option menu/ini/anywhere.
But I don't know i it's a bug. Because the other scaling threads seemed not to have this problem. Only certain objects/fonts were not scaling correctly. And you already fixed that, according to the happy posts
Edit: After looking through Tatos' pics, I remember, that I had the opposite scaling effect, too, where it was scaled but weirdly like in his first post. Could it has something to do with Xyplorer enforcing of the scale of the main screen? Since I rarely reboot, this could explain the behaviour, even after I undocked the tablet from the dock/1080 screen.
After a normal system boot with no other screen attached Xyplorer scales to 200% on the tablet 2736 screen.
But since I mainly use hibernate (sleep - or better the waking up - isn't still not really working thx 2 Microsoft), I didn't realize that until now.
I could do some more observations, if needed with different main screens. It's just a little tiresome...the booting...lazyiness and all

Re: Scaling not working at all (Win 10)
On startup XY reads the scaling specs of the startup monitor and does some metric adjustments accordingly. Those values are never updated during the session. This might explain it.
I have only one monitor here so I cannot do any testing or debugging. Hence: Let's leave things as they are for now. Thanks for the offer to help anyway!
