Large Tiles & Details View

I have another question.. Is this possible...

I currently use DETAILS VIEW for all my folders now this is my question...

Can you set it so that when you go to a folder that has JPGS or image files it will automatically display in LARGE TILES format and once I go back to a folder that has regular files in it (ex. windows directory) it will go back to DETAILS VIEW?

Meaning it would always know that you are in a folder that is filled with photos to change the VIEW automatically. I guess this is something I could set manually but that would be a real hassle.

No, not possible without manual intervention (and a script). But could be automated with e.g. an external AutohotKey / AutoIt script.

To expand on this a little... As highend mentioned, you can't do specifically what you ask (i.e., XY knowing that you are in a folder with jpgs so it automatically go into a tiles view), but in case you didn't know, you can set folder views such that when you enter a particular folder and establish the view you like, you can then save that folder's view. Under the menu item View | Folder View Settings | Enable Folder View Settings, make sure it is checked off. From there you can save specific folder views, Edit Folder views, and also Manage all your folder views. Take a look at the details by typing in the address bar ::rtfm "idh_fvs.htm"; In your case, you could have details view be the default and if you entered G:\Photos or any sub-folders under G:\Photos be in a Tile view. Saving folder views is not really a hassle at all.

No one knows what's happening in the future, but in many cases users add new subfolders to an existing parent folder like, "H:\Wallpaper" so if he set up a new subfolder called "Landscapes", "H:\Wallpaper\Landscapes" will be covered by the Wallpaper FVS as long as he checks off "Include subfolders" in the FVS edit menu.

Sure, but e.g. if all your downloads go to D:\Downloads (which you want to have in details view) and when you now download a picture / icon / whatever archive, extract it to it's subfolder name... You know what happens

Maybe I don't follow what you meant by the above statement, but if I download an image either as a JPG or within a zip file, I would typically place the image in a folder with an already established FVS. So when I extract, copy or move it to a known folder with a FVS (e.g., large thumbnails), it will automatically include the the new thumb for that image as soon as I enter that folder.
