Flatten multiple folders but show the folder association ?
How can I flatten view multiple folders & sub-folders files simultaneously and show what folder or sub-folder those files belong to in flattened mode ?

By appending their source folder to the name of the flattened file? I already wrote a folder flatten script, modify it...
One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal

In branch view/flat view, just enable the path column. (Uncheck this option to show absolute paths: Tools > Config > Find Files & Branch View > Find Files > Show relative path in Path column)
However, if you're talking about the recently introduced Flatten folder feature: in this case, all contained items are moved directly under the root folder. They don't belong to their previous locations anymore.

Re: Flatten multiple folders but show the folder association
How come I can't select two sub-folders followed by /:flat. I understand the sub-folders won't show in the address bar.
From what I can see when using flat view using the GUI menus rather then commands, I don't know what files are associated to what folder / sub-folder !

Enable these options, these can help.
Tools > Configuration > Find Files & Branch View > Branch View > Level-indent (my setting below is 10px-indentation)
Tools > Configuration > Find Files & Branch View > Branch View > Default to tree-like sort order
Tools > Configuration > Find Files & Branch View > Branch View > Multi branch view lists top folders
Here's a branch view for me. Not difficult at all to see which item belongs to which folder.

After activating a branch view, activate this menu option: Tools > Customize List > Multiple SelectCookieMonster wrote:How come I can't select two sub-folders followed by /:flat. I understand the sub-folders won't show in the address bar.
