Starting XYplorer with shortcut to remote computer

Sorry if this has already been reported (didn't see in a search) but if I start XYplorer as a shortcut to a remote drive then it says "Couldn't find path" or if I start XYplorer when the last location was a remote drive then I get the same message. I then click on my favorite folders with the same link location then it displays the directory just fine. As an example I use a shortcut like:

"C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe" "\\jansenhp\sonyusb (x)" or if my address bar last location was "\\jansenhp\sonyusb (x)" then I get the "Couldn't find path" message.

This should work as windows explorer works ok. Thanks.

Strange, I tested this and it works okay. What happens when you close XYplorer on this path and then open it again (not using a shortcut)? It should open on the remote path.

I get the same error message, "Couldn't find path". It does not open the remote folder. I have to then click on the same remote folder in my favorites and then it opens ok.

I have the same problem. Also, when I map my "My documents" folder to a network path (\\SomeNAS\profiles\myprofile), when I select the "My documents" item in the tree, I get the same error message.
HOWEVER : If I map \\SomeNAS\profiles\myprofile to a network drive "M:", and then remap the "My documents" folder to "M:\", it works fine.

Would still like to see a solution for this...

Hm, both ways use the same code. Does this function have to be called twice? Maybe the system needs a little break to breath. I'll add one...

In the meantime: try Configuration | Advanced: Cache network servers... it might help.

Just tested it. It works 'partly'. If you launch XYplorer using a UNC path as parameter, it's ok. However, if you have an XYplorer instance open already, a new tab opens, and the error message appears.

Downloaded the last beta update today and it is working for me. I can start xyplorer using a remote computer drive as a parameter and it opens ok. I can close with that remote computer drive as the open tab and restart xyplorer and the tab opens ok with the remote computer drive showing the files and no error message. I can have xyplorer open and start up another instance with the remote computer drive as the parameter and it opens a tab in the existing xyplorer instance listing the files with no error message.

Thanks for the quick fix. This is one reason why I purchased xyplorer. :-)

Here is my configuration file. Maybe I have a setting that causes it to work for me. I am running on WinXP. Have a dual boot to Vista Ultimate but have not tried on Vista yet.

Could you try with a new blank configuration? So that you start from one tab, on the C drive. Without UNC paths in your favorites or start path...

I believe without photo proof, but anyway: you can send shots to the support email.

BTW, this "partly" thing will be fixed next time. It's a coincidence that it works with jjjansen's setup.

Renamed my .ini file so it started as a fresh evaluation copy (did not edit any configuration settings) and it all worked for me with the remote computer location directory.

Hm. If the server used in the startpath is cached it does help.
