DESTROY BUTTON/ICON

Post by sparks79 »

Some Years Back there used to be a DESTROY Button/Icon, And it was very handy.
To be Used among other things like to Remove a Folder that had something in it that wouldn't allow you to normally Remove it.
And that's what I have on my c: drive, a Folder that just won't Delete.
Can someone help out with that.????

"Has something in it, that doesn't let you remove it"

What is it, a locked file or folder? -> http://lockhunter.com/

A file / folder which isn't accessible because of permissions?
Take the ownership
Give your useraccount permissions
Remove it

It's a Folder with nothing in it.
I have tried applying ( takeownership ) to it , but to no avail.

Windows 10? I sometimes seen this bug: deleting a folder seems to work, but it remains there. A re-deletion after restart removes it. Not a XY bug though.

Or it could be just a locked folder. See highend's suggestion.

Sorry Guys I made a mistake, the Folder is on my 2tb Portable USB3 Drive.
My O/S is Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
Anyway I have been able to Remove all the nestled Folders that are in the Branch Before this Problem Folder, leaving just One Folder.
Now that Folder has Two Sub Folders in it.
When I try to View the contents of any of those Two it just flicks back to the first one.
I've tried Changing the attributes but that doesn't help.
The only way I can see to fix it is to copy all the contents on to my fixed HDD and reformat it and then copy everything back on.
But can someone explain what ever happened to that Old Destroy feature that xyplorer used to have, has it been droped or renamed someware.

I am not aware of any such feature ever being there...

Right click the toolbar and select customize toolbar. Now in the Customize Toolbar dialog, can you find that lost button in the leftside Available buttons list?

Just to ask: you are sure the folder is empty? There are no hidden files or such?

So: have you checked the XY-options
View / Show Items / Show Hidden ...
to really see all files and folders?
