Hi Highend, I just learned about this tool from your "Overview of Scripts" topic..
Sorry for being dense, but can this be evoked from a Custom Toolbar Button?
What should go into the "On left click" box? I tried

Code: Select all

run """C:\Users\swkunkel\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\Tools\Extractor_v0.9.6\Extractor.exe"" ""<get SelectedItemsPathNames |>"" ""<get Path i>""";
(which is where I put the downloaded files.)

But should it say
load "run """C:\Users\swkunkel\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\Tools\Extractor_v0.9.6\Extractor.exe"" ""<get SelectedItemsPathNames |>"" ""<get Path i>""";"
or something?

Sure. The first line that you posted is correct (run """...)

Thanks for the super fast reply!
I tried it again and it does seem to be working... Not sure why I was getting a script error before.
Anyway, another question:
This setup should work, right?

Instead, I get the dialog to "Select the .exe file for Bandzip." I don't have Bandzip installed though... 7zip is the only one I have.

Also tried with it pointing to 7zG.exe and 7zFM.exe. No luck.

No, the

[General]
Application=

must point to the packer section name that you want to use.

So in your case:
Application=7-Zip

(because the section is called "[7-Zip]")

DOH! I probably should've been able to figure that one out!

Thanks for writing this. I've wanted some kind of functionality like this for a long time. Never really thought about it as a script idea though.

EDIT: Okay, here's an alternate icon for you :)
Image

It's an ICO with all standard sizes (256 .... 16)
I can make one with only 24 and 16, if people want.

It's explained in the first post of this thread :)

Yea, I should really check the script sub forum more often.... I learned about a few cool new (new to me) scripts from your Script Showcase pinned thread.

RE Alternate image:
This one with just the tool and not the Windows icon in the background is actually more discernible at low rezzes.

For proper citation I should point out that I found the image via Google Image Search for "extractor."

Apparently some electrical supply company.
The tool though is a wheel puller though. At least I think... Not really sure.

EDIT: Forgot to attach zip

I don't know... There's no indication that it's copyrighted... Since the site is for an electric supply company, and not an image company, I'm not too worried. Still, I wouldn't recommend selling it for profit. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's okay to use the Windows icons.

As for my work (which was minimal), there's no restriction. I consider it "open."

EDIT: Actually it's a super-simple image.. I could totally recreate it as a vector thing with DrawPlus' shape builder tools if you want.

Meh... It didn't turn out as "photorealistic" as I was hoping it would. Doesn't really matter at 24x24 though.

And here's a chronicle of making it...
