Subfolder for Favorites Folder

Post by dartanyan »

Hi,

Is there any way to make a SUBFOLDER for the Favorites Folder List ? Because I have so many folder list and I want to group them into certain sub folder, I have attached a photoshop sample image I did.

I do not want to use "Catalogue" function, which is very less handy compared to the "right click" easy menu for the Favorites folder in the white space area.

Any help will be super appreciated !!

Thanks !!

No, it's not possible, and I don't see a way to do it.

In future I might add a way to pop a nested menu from a custom toolbar button. That might be your rescue then.

Don, nested menu capability would indeed be a welcome feature.

Hi dartanyan , I don't know if you have the pro version and can use scripting? If you do, you could use this short script I just modified from something else to perform an alternate method. It will work on any selected folder provided it has subfolders. If you purposely select a folder in the List Pane (List has focus) it will work on that folder. If not, it will use the <curpath>. You would save the following script as folderSubs.xys in your script folder.

Code: Select all

	if ((get("FocusedControl",) == "L") AND (exists("<selitem>") == "2")) {$DIR = <selitem>; }
	else {$DIR = "<curpath>"; }
   $DIR_base = getpathcomponent($DIR, "base");
   $ICO_PIC = ":lasttarget"; //use what ever icon you want here
	  $AllFolders = listfolder("$DIR", "*", "2", "|");
	  if(listfolder($DIR, "*", 2 + 32) < "1") {msg "No sub folders are under $DIR_base.";end(1); }
     $menu= ""; unset $MenuCaller;
    foreach ($our_folder, $AllFolders, "|") {
	     $FolderBase = getpathcomponent($our_folder, "base");
        $menu = $menu . "   ●   $FolderBase" perm $MenuCaller = "$our_folder" . ";" . "<crlf>";
    }
	$MENU = """   $DIR_base SubFolders|$ICO_PIC""" . ";" . "<crlf>" . "$menu";

	load($MENU, , s);
	 if(isset($MenuCaller) == "1") {
		goto "$MenuCaller";
		//run """<xy>"" /new ""$MenuCaller"""; //use this (uncomment) and comment out the "goto" line if you'd rather start a new instance of XY opened to the selected folder
	 }
	 else {end (1);}
"_Terminate";
   unset $MenuCaller;
Then, make an entry in your Favorite folders like this...go to Tools menu | List Management | Favorite Folders... and add the following entry.

Code: Select all

"Sub&Folders|:lasttarget" load "D:\Tools\XYplorer\Scripts\folderSubs.xys";
First select the folder and bring up Favorite Folders (you could assign it a hotkey in Tools | Customize Keyboard shortcuts...). When it comes up, it will look like this...well, the last entry will look like this...
Sub Folders_Capture.JPG
If you select SubFolders or hit the "F" key the list view will change to the selected folder. The folder selection menu will look like this...
Sub Folders Capture2.JPG
If you would rather have the sub folder you selected come up in another instance of XYplorer take a look at the comment in the script above.
Good luck. It looks like a lot of work to set up but honestly, it isn't.
Ken

Edit: Modified such that if you purposely select a folder in the List pane it will use that folder, if not, uses the current path.
