Objective: Change the box color of one file in a long list so that it is immediately and distinctly visible.
Method: Select file > Favorites > Set Box Color > Select Color > OK
Result 1: Changes box color of the folder and of all files in folder
Result 2: Cannot change box color back to previous color (Select Color reverts to undesired changed color)
Would appreciate any help with this extremely frustrating problem. It should be a simple thing to change the box color of one file in a long list, but not only does this do something not wanted (changes all the file box colors rather than the box color of only one file), it is impossible to return the unwanted box color to its previous condition. I have seen somewhat related problems in the User Forum, but nothing close enough to suggest a specific fix. Also the Help files and the FAQs have nothing helpful.

Re: Set Box Color changes all files instead of only one file
Hi and welcome to the club!
Set Box Color is just for folders in the tree. (It can also change the background color of the list but that's just an additional option.)
What you want is a color filter. If you want to change the color of just one particular file you enter that file with full path into the color filters list in Configuration | Color Filters.
I did it here for the file "D:\www\xyplorer.com\code\download\XYHash-15.70.0100.txt" as a demonstration:

Many thanks for your response. As the attached screenshot shows, there is no place to enter the full path of the filename to be color-coded.
Also, what to do about XYplorer refusing to change the box colors mistakenly colored back to their previous colors? Thanks for further help.

Aha! That works. The instructions would have been clearer if that step were included.
This seems a cumbersome way of doing what should be a simple thing. Perhaps a future version could put the 'change the color of one file only' in the right-click list.

You might look into Labels... then it's just one click in the Label column.
