Is there a preferred / easy way to start a command prompt in a given folder? (i.e., command prompt opens and is already changed to that directory)
There are a few ways to do so in Explorer, my favorite being to just type "cmd.exe" into the address bar for that folder (works in Win7 but not XP)... I've been poking around but haven't figured out a way to do so yet. Thanks.

Ctrl Alt P - I think it is by default, unless you change it.
Or via Help > List All Commands > enter "1005"
To set up your preference:
Configuration > Templates > Command Line Interpreter

#1005;
In the address bar + enter to execute it.
Add a button to your toolbar. It's called "Command Prompt"

Re: Start Command Prompt in Folder
there's a toolbar button dedicated for that. Right click the toolbar, select 'Customize toolbar', find and add the Command Prompt button from Available buttons list.
Alternatively, if you have these two options:
▪ Mainmenu > Tools > Configuration > Menus, Mouse, Safety > Custom items in she'll ctx menu CHECKED
(also the relevant option checked inside the Folder Tree btn)
▪ and .. Configuration > Shell Integration > Show 64bit ctx menu UNCHECKED,
then you can right click a folder in the folder tree to find "open command prompt here"
edit: highend's ::1005; is a shortcut to this cmd.
edit: The same cmd is by default triggered with CTRL+ALT+P.
You can also assign a keyboard shortcut:
Told > customize keyboard shortcuts >
press "Jump", find Command Prompt, assign a custom shortcut.
And Welcome to the club!

Doesn't look like anyone mentioned my preferred method...
