Restore previous folder windows at logon
Does XYxplorer have a feature analogous to File Explorer's "Restore previous folder windows at logon"? So that when I log in, the XYplorer windows which were open last time are opened again at their previous screen locations?
Re: Restore previous folder windows at logon
Nope. But you can put a symlink to XY in the autostart folder of your OS and make sure, Configuration > Startup & Exit > Save settings on exit is set. Next time you'll restart Windows while XY was open it'll open at that last position with your latest tabset (and their folders) in place.
If you use the latest beta (v15.50.0111+) you can create the link by executing:
in the address bar

Code: Select all
new("%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\XYplorer", "link", "<xy>");One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal

Re: Restore previous folder windows at logon
Thanks. You seem pretty knowledgeable about this. I will describe the end result i would like, and perhaps you can suggest a way to accomplish it.
I have a three-monitor setup (5760x1080). I like to have three Windows File Explorer windows open on the far right monitor, tiled side by side. Like so:
[] [] []
I really like how Windows File Explorer will open up those same three windows and place them automatically. That's wonderful and convenient. The Windows File Explorer itself, of course, leaves something to be desired, which is why I am looking at XYplorer.
Can you suggest a way to conveniently execute XYplorer so that it will load three windows at their previous size and location? I actually do not mind if they do not remember their previous directory location -- it's the physical resizing and location of the windows that I would like to have automated.
Thanks.

Re: Restore previous folder windows at logon
Actually, never mind. I am going in another direction. Thank you, though.
Re: Restore previous folder windows at logon
No problem.
Regardless, that would have been one solution:
- Use your current XYplorer, position it on the leftmost position, Menu File - Save Settings
- Navigate to the XYplorer.ini file (goto "<xydata>\XYplorer.ini"; in the address bar)
- Make two copies: XYplorer1.ini, XYplorer2.ini
- Edit both copies
[General] section
WinX=...
WinY=...
Change WinX to the middle position for the first copy, and to the rightmost position (3rd XY window) for the second copy.
Same with WinY.
Save both files.
- 3 links in the autostart folder
And after that, adjust the destination of all XYplorer1 + XYplorer2 symbolic links by appending:
Pro: All three instances keep their own tabs...
