Jumbled column header display in new Windows 10 build 10158

Post by mriege »

The column headers for sorting columns are not refreshed properly in the newest Windows 10 build 10158
When I click on a header or another tab, the new correct header text is overlaid transparently above the previous headers, so the old column header text still remains visible in the background. After a while of working with xyplorer this leads to the the bar with the column headers being completely jumbled (see attached screenshot:

The problem does not occur anymore with Windows 10 build 10163: the column headers display correctly

I installed Windows 10 (final release for July 29th rollout) on my windows 8.1 computer last Thursday. I noticed a list pane drawing or refresh issue when I migrate from my parent folder containing hundreds of CDs in folders (mostly in mp3 format in a normal list view) to any of the albums of mp3s which are in a detailed view with custom columns. The view is drawn showing the specific album songs on the left side with the proper custom columns in the list pane, but the top-right side of the pane is not redrawn and still shows the topmost albums (CDs) from the previous view of the parent folder (MP3s). I'm babysitting the grand kids now and not on the Windows 10 computer at the moment. I'll update to show 2 screen shots later. Thanks.

Edit: To the best of my recall, this particular issue was not seen on the same computer with Windows 8.1.

Don, notice how when I open one of the sub folders in this case, "Anna Nalick", the top row of the parent folder on the top right side of the list pane still shows up (i.e., Green Day-Warning and Kelly Clarkson). Those 2 albums are at the level of the custom column header so that area is not being redrawn. I don't believe this occurred on Windows 8.1 which was installed on this computer before the Windows 10 update (Final). Thanks.

Happens on std themes when alternating users, too ( win 8 ).

OK, I saw it in Win8 after changing color themes. But it disappears after an XY restart right?

I think it's caused by some internal optimization and I can make it disappear on F5 (Refresh).
EDIT: Well, I cannot. Looks like some Windows bug. Research goes on...

Thanks. It has to be a Win10 bug.

Well that's too bad. I say that only because I could be waiting awhile to get it fixed when it's not on your end. :( I do like the look and feel of 10 over 8.1 though.
