Stealth folders in breadcrumb bar

A few selected folders do not seem to want to show themselves in the breadcrumb bar. One of them is My Documents, which is really C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\.

If I click on most folders in the Navigation (left) Pane, the path is displayed in the breadcrumb bar. If I click on My Documents, the breadcrumb pane is blank except for a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. If I right-click on the breadcrumb bar and select any of several display options, such as Triangles, Slashes, Flat Bar, or Beveled Bar, then "My Documents" reappears in the breadcrumb bar, but with the yellow triangle. But if I click on My Documents in the left panel, it disappears again. There is at least one other folder where this also happens, and it is a subfolder under My Documents.
