[Solved] Need help updating Xyplorer

Post by PeterT »

I installed Xyplorer some time ago and then brought it into the PortableApps launcher. The Data folder is in "Desktop\Portable Apps\PortableApps\xyplorer(portable)\Data\".

After installing the new version Xyplorer is now using "\Users\Win7-2011\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer" for the Data folder. How do I get it back to where it was?

[edit] It looks like deleting startup.ini solved my issue.

if you're using XYplorer in a portable environment, it makes sense to download the portable No-Install packages @ http://www.xyplorer.com/download.php , they come with the startup.ini file "pre-deleted".

Since the downloads are fresh installs and not updates, I was concerned that the no-install package would overwrite my settings. I figured the installer might be smarter. :)

I didn't realize the data folder is in a separate location by default.

Even if that wasn't the case, your settings are still safe, the Installer or No-install packages neither touch them.
