Awesome catalog EXEs

Post by surrender »

I love the new catalog thing where I can execute any file by drag dropping onto catalog EXEs. Thanks Don!! :D. Its extremely useful for me.

Excuse my ignorance...In windows one usually has file extensions associated w/ their programs. For ex. if you have set IrfanView to open a .bmp, double clicking on any bmp file would open it in IV.

So then why the need to drag a file and drop it to the processing exe in catalog exclusively?

I haven't used the feature yet, but as I think I understand it, this allows you to more easily open the file with a program other than the default one...or when you have a file that doesn't have a defined "Open with" set up yet...I have half a dozen or so various pgrms to open a BMP with, and thus I need to right-click and select which one...with this, I could just D&D it on desired appl, as I get it.

Please correct me if I'm totally off on this, ok?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

No, that's it. Allows one to open a file not associated with anything with your favorite text editor for example, or open a picture with your editing software and not your (associated) viewer, etc
And I'm sure that's only one way to use it, there could be other ways to use this, just use your imagination ;)
